First day of action for U20 Boys at European Championship

The European Championship for Boys U20 starts today. The first game for team Belgium is against Bosnia and Herzegovina at 18h45. Not only playing the first A-division game in 6 years for the U20 Boys, but also going against the host country is going to be a daring task for coach Paul Vervaeck and his squad.

The first goal for Belgium U20 Boys is making it into the Second Round. To do so, they will have to finish in the top 3 of their Group. Not making it into the Second Round will mean Belgium gets relegated to the B-division again next year, something the team absolutely wants to avoid.

« You see that countries like Serbia, Croatia, Spain or France are always in Division A, so when you get to play against teams like that, it is always an extra step for these kids. They never play on this level, so they can learn from this experience. » – Paul Vervaeck in his FIBA interview.

Belgium’s Group includes some of those top teams: besides Bosnia and Herzegovina, our team wil also play Italy, France and Croatia in the First Round.

First Round schedule
