The U19 Women’s World Championship kicks off on Saturday July 18 in Chekhof, Russia. For the 4th time in history, Belgium is present at a World Championship 5on5 Basketball (previous U21 in 2007, U17 in 2010 & 2012). Coach Arvid Diels is leading the team, which includes several players from the U17 team in 2012, alongside Jean-Luc Cornia & Ann Wauters as assistant-coaches.
A heavy task awaits Julie Allemand and her team, as they face France for their first game on Saturday. Next up is Mali (on Sunday) and Canada (on Tuesday) in the group phase.
The group phase will determine the further schedule for team Belgium. Depending on their rank in group C, they will face a team of Group D in a do-or-die game: the winner goes through to the quarter finals, the loser wil play classification games for places 9-16.
You will be able to watch every game live on Fiba’s YouTube channel.
